Collaboration

In addition to the protocols we provide, a collaboration can include hands-on experience in our lab. For example, you could be involved in BLink bead preparation and making sample libraries with those beads (including your own test samples). If you visit for several weeks, you should be well-versed in making your own BLink beads and using them to make libraries. A visit can also encompass bioinformatic data processing, if time allows and there is interest.

So far, researchers have spent 2-3 weeks as a visiting researcher working with the Genomics Innovation Hub at Cornell University. During that time, the GIH trains you on making and validating your own batch of BLink beads. Afterwards, you use your own beads to get the hang of making some sample libraries.

We are considering a model where we invite researchers from multiple independent groups (2-3) to Cornell at once, which will make the time spent training a lot more efficient. This will also make it easier for visitors to find accommodations during their stay and split the cost. You might also make some new friends and colleagues! Please reach out if you’re interested in participating that kind of model.

With sufficient interest, we can move towards dedicated workshops that occur at specific times of the year that can be signed up for. We may also consider something like that for linked-read bioinformatics training via Physalia or similar services.
